Everyone has a book they will push onto anyone they meet, no matter what kind of reader they encounter. For me the most successful of these recommendations is An American Marriage.

It’s a book that is so easily real, and so beautifully told that no matter what genre you like – you’ll be happy. The story itself is not easy and sparks debate. The characters are so vibrant and complicated that there is no doubt they exist in the world.

Also, Oprah and NYT picked it as being awesome, so I feel confident in recommending it as well.
